Geoff Allnutt aka The Speech Painter
Geoff has performed all over the UK from poetry clubs to music and literature festivals and is the winner of numerous poetry slams.
He was a founder-member of poetry’s first pop group, Atomic Lip and was co host at Pure Poetry at Soho Theatre. He is the lyricist and backing vocalist for the band Radio K W G.
His Dr Seuss inspired book The Twat in the Flat was published by Burning Eye in 2015, and he is currently writing a new one man show An Adult Dr Seuss part musical part poetry and animation.
The worlds first poetry flick book ‘If Only I Could Tap’ was published in 2018.
Steve has been a stalwart of the poetry scene since the mid-nineties, as programmer for Apples & Snakes, and as co-founder of Atomic Lip, ‘poetry’s first pop-group’.
He’s performed at various festivals, from Glastonbury to Latitude, and his poetry residencies include Battersea Dogs Home and Dickens Bicentennial Celebrations. Combining verbal-gymnastics and social commentary, he has won slams, mentored young poets, produced poetry Teachers Packs, and even performed his poem Save The Libraries in Parliament.
In the early 2000s he ran ‘Pure Poetry’, a weekly club at the Soho Theatre, and began writing more children’s poetry as he was working in so many schools. Most recently, that has expanded to include publishing two young adult novels with Walker Books, and this year, a mid-grade novel about child refugees, ‘Child I’, with Faber.
